'Castle' Season 7 Premiere: Producers 'Working' On Esposito & Lanie Relationship, Possibly Gives Hope For 'Esplainie' [VIDEO]
While most fans of ABC's Castle are invested in what's next for Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic), there's another relationship that will be a focus in the upcoming seventh season of the show.
The Wire Star Set To Help Beckett Solve 'Most Difficult Case Of Her Career'
Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe spoke with TVLine in a report published Monday in which he discussed what was next with Javier Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Lanie Parish (Tamala Jones), a.k.a. "Esplainie." Asked to reveal anything coming soon for the characters, Marlowe was coy but gave hope to fans of the pair.
"We do have a couple of things that we're working on, in that relationship," he added. When TVLine quipped that they should use the open wedding venue Castle and Beckett were supposed to use in the Season 6 finale, Marlowe joked, "If only we could go back there and afford the location fee!"
ABC Fall 2014 Premiere Dates Announced
Castle fans were shocked by the season-ending twist this spring, which featured Castle getting into a fiery car wreck on his way over to wed Beckett. The dramatic scene unfolded with Beckett learning the news while wearing her wedding dress.
New show runner David Amann previously revealed to TVLine that he and his fellow producers were "committed" to the central relationship going forward.
"We are as committed to their relationship as Castle and Beckett are - they are deeply in love and they have overcome a great many challenges already, so whatever [has happened] is not going to tear them apart," he said. "If anything, it will make them stronger."
Castle Season 7 is set to premiere on Monday, Sept. 29 at 10 p.m. on ABC.
