'NCIS' Season 12 Premiere: Series Heads To Russia For Opener As A Recurring Villain Comes Along [VIDEO]
NCIS is entering its 12th season, and it is getting its second spinoff this year with NCIS: New Orleans, but that doesn't mean the folks working on the show are giving up on taking big swings and coming up with big storylines for the original.
A New Villain To Appear In Premiere Of NCIS
On July 18, TV Fanatic ran excerpts from an interview with NCIS executive producer Gary Glasberg that gave plenty of insight into what to expect for the next season of NCIS, including the season opener.
After a tumultuous end to season 11, the show is basically rebooting itself to a degree with season 12. They begin with a brand new story that will start in Russia and bring both Gibbs and McGee to Russia. It will also introduce a villain that will be involved over the course of the entire season. The villain in question will be a Russian mercenary named Sergei Michnev, and he will be played by Alex Veadov.
NCIS' Tony No Longer A 'Wounded Bird'
That's a big start to the season, and the ongoing presence of Michnev adds a different vibe to this season. To think, not all that long ago a Russian villain would have felt antiquated. That's not all to expect, though. Naturally, with the new spinoff set in New Orleans beginning, some of the characters from NCIS will be making appearing down in the Big Easy in a crossover worthy of Chief Wiggum, P.I. The third episode will also be an origin story for the character of Ducky, so be prepared to learn more about him. NCIS will begin the season on Tuesday, September 23 at 8:00 p.m.
