"We've had a little break since we did the [episode] three, so I can't remember anything that happened," joked actor Joseph Morgan in an interview with Happy Cool (featured below). Morgan did have a lot going on during that break, having married former Vampire Diaries co-star Persia White in July before attending Comic-Con to promote The Originals' upcoming season later in the month.
While he was hesitant to reveal too much, Morgan did discuss how relationships will be changing on the program's new season. "They each have different ideas of how to deal with the loss of Hope…" he explained, referring to Elijah (Daniel Gillies), Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) and Klaus, "It's like three strangers living in the same building."

Morgan also talked a little about upcoming storylines and the part "revenge" will play in the first few episodes. "They're going to explore a lot more of the original parents," he said, adding, "there's gonna be some payment need, some blood payment needed" for the endangering of Klaus and Hayley's daughter Hope.
The Originals may be heading into darker territory and when asked if there will be any "levity" Morgan laughed. "Yes, it comes in the form of Josh, everybody's favorite character," he said, referring to Steven Krueger's fan-favorite character who appeared a few episodes into Season 1.
"Gillies and I work pretty hard to try to eject some levity into our relationship," continued Morgan, "A lot of it's taken out [in editing]. I feel like if we're having too much fun with the scene it's sort of going downhill."
Season 2 won't be all "revenge," there will be some tender moments as well. The actor revealed that the show will take a closer look at "compassion and care between these family members" in addition to all the murder and mayhem.
"You can expect things to unfold quite quickly," promised Morgan, who claimed that The Originals is the kind of show that likes to move fast.
The Originals returns to The CW for a second season Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
