'Vikings' Season 3: Bjorn To Surpass Ragnar, Conflict Arises As Son Becomes A Man [VIDEO]
Viking's Bjorn is no longer the small child who wanted to sacrifice Athelstan to Thor, and his coming of age will set up conflict among the Lothbroks.
'Vikings' Season 3: Which Major Character Will Die?
Thanks to history, viewers know that Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig) will ultimately become more powerful than his father, Ragnar (Travis Fimmel), and season 3 will start to tease the young warriors future as a man.
"It's definitely been a coming-of-age story," Lugwig explained to Zap2It. "Historically, this character goes on to do some pretty incredible things, so I think we're setting up him coming into his own and becoming a man."

However, Bjorn won't suddenly become his father's equal over night. While the eldest Lothbrok boy respects his father, conflicts will slowly arise between the two.
"You just read these great scripts [by Michael Hirst] and he's already implemented that slowly in the third season and you'll see that," Ludwig told TV Fanatic at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con. "He was a boy in the second season and I really tried to play that...and in season three he's a man. You see him learning and really taking after his father."
