Sofia Vergara has been named "The Highest Earning Woman on TV" according to Forbes magazine's

The "Modern Family" star who just turned 40, earned the coveted spot on their Highest Paid Actresses List just three years after landing her first major television series.

Reality star Kim Kardashian came in a close second: Colombian-born Vergara earned $19 million while Kardashian took in $18 million.

In the past year the actress has signed endorsement deals in English and Spanish that amount to a whopping $12 million. Kmart has gotten behind her clothing line with an advance that will total $7 million by the end of 2012, reported Forbes. Sofia's face appears in ad campaigns for Diet Pepsi, Burger King and Covergirl, according to Forbes.

Clearly, she earned more money from her endorsement deals than her role as a Latino mother on the award-winning ABC show where she earns an estimated $100,000 an episode, according to Daily Mail.

In terms of business strategy Kardashian and Vergara have a lot in common: both have clothing lines at national retailers; Kardashian at SEARS and Vergara at Kmart.

Kardashian's family just renewed their contract with E! for $30 million, for their hit reality show "Keeping Up With The Kardashians."

Kardashian, the reality star mogul, who has guest starred on "Drop Dead Diva" also made earnings from her wedding to NBA player Kris Humphries, her fragrance line, family stores and clothing lines, according to radaronline.

Sofia spoke to Forbes about being the biggest crossover star Latin America has seen in years: "The truth is out that we're in this country and we're taking over," she said. "To see people paying attention to the cultural changes ... is fantastic."

Forbes calculates the earnings of the women from May 2011 to May 2012.

Coming in fourth place is reality show star turned talk show host Bethenny Frankel with $12 million. The only other actress on the list is former "Desperate Housewives" star Eva Longoria, who placed third with a total earning of $15 million.
