The cast of The Originals had a big photo shoot on Sunday, but this week they are back on set filming new episodes for the second season of The CW series.

"Highlight of my Monday: being back in a room with #TheOriginals cast and our queen bee [producer] @julieplec saying the S2 premiere looks baaaaad a--!" tweeted actor Steven Krueger (Josh) on Monday, suggesting that fan favorite Josh is likely to appear in the first few episodes of the new season.
Actor Sebastian Roche (Mikael Mikealson) celebrated his birthday on set Monday, though he still found some time to tease some upcoming original vampire action.

"Intense fight training sequence #theoriginals," Roche wrote on Instagram. "It's gonna be exciting!"
In the accompanying pic the actor is standing ready inside with a pole raised in the air and a menacing expression. Later in the day he thanked the cast and crew for their warm birthday wishes and cake, embracing the known camaraderie of the program's cast.
With at least three episodes completed, the cast of the Vampire Diaries spin-off recently attended Comic-Con in San Diego, during which the network released the first teaser for season two (featured below). Now back in Atlanta, the cast is eager to continue filming the remainder of the season.
The Originals returns to The CW for its second season Monday, October 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
