'Power Rangers' Movie Rumors: Former 'Red Ranger' Austin St. John Teases Return To The Franchise, Could Return In Cameo [VIDEO]
With the new Power Rangers movie in the early stages, there is a lot of room for original cast members to make an appearance or take on extended roles in the new franchise. One original member has taken to Facebook to tease fans with a possible series return.
'Hunger Games' and 'Carrie' Stars Rumored For New 'Power Rangers' Movie
Austin St. John, who played the original Red Ranger, took to his Facebook page to ask fans if they would be interested in seeing him return to the franchise and what type of role they wanted to see him in. Some of the options St. John threw out were a mentor role, a cameo, an additional member role, or some sort of villain part.
St. John hasn't been in anything since 2009 and has been more recently seen in local comic conventions and doing publicity on the original series, but with the reboot coming up, there is probably a spot for him and the rest of the original cast that is interested to join up with an all-new set of Rangers and pass the beton during the new movie.
Producer Roberto Orci Talks 'Power Rangers Movie' And How It Ties To Original Series
As of right now, the movie is in the writing stages with X-Men: First Class scribes Ashley Miller and Zack Stenz working on a new script with producer Roberto Orci. Yesterday, casting rumors were swirling around names like Liam Hemsworth and Chloe Grace Moretz as possible additions to the Power Rangers ranks in the upcoming movie.
For now, casting isn't expected to happen until a first draft is done, and even then, it is uncertain whether any original members would be able to make it into the movie.
