One Direction: Song Parody Proves They Are A Hit [Video]
Presently at the top of the charts and at beckoning call of nearly every teenage girl, Britain’s “One Direction” has put boy band music back on the map. Signed to Columbia records, they got their start to fame upon placing third in the seventh installment of “The X Factor.” As they say, fame comes with a price. In this case, in the form of a parody by the likes of a comedy act named Jest.
Clearly at the top of the musical food chain, the Weird Al wannabes came up with their own version of “What Makes You Beautiful.” Only in their revised version, the target isn’t the envy of every teeny bopper but the closeted adult fans; that they appear to be poking fun at.
According to their website, Jest had the following to say regarding their video:
“If you're too old for boy bands, Castleville on Facebook, and stars and moons on your ceiling...yeah, you'll like this too.”
Gag video or not, the boys in “One Direction” are definitively a worldwide success. Said to be the leaders of the so-called British Invasion into America, the band reportedly has a net worth of nearly $50 million dollars.
