'Longmire' Season 4 Spoilers: Vic Could Be Stepping Up In Premiere If A&E Drama Is Renewed For 2015, Shortened Season 3 Suggests Trouble Ahead [VIDEO]
A&E has yet to renew Longmire for a fourth season, and with so much left undetermined, fans and critics alike are beginning to speculate on the fate of their beloved characters.
'Longmire' Author Doesn't 'Worry' About The Show's Future
The drama's third season was not confirmed until October last year, which means there's still plenty of time in the coming months for Season 4 to be verified for 2015. Still, the fact that the network chose to reduce Season 3 to 10 episodes instead of the previous season's 13 does not bode well for the program's future.
Nonetheless, the writers' decision to end on a major cliffhanger does suggest internal confidence amongst showrunners that the drama has a shot at coming back, and when it does fans will be waiting.
'Longmire' Finishes Off Season 3 With Major Cliffhanger
If Longmire is renewed for a fourth season, it's possible the show won't return to start off with the gunshot Sheriff Walt (Robert Taylor) heard during the final moments of the finale.
According to CarterMatt on Sunday, the closing out of Vic's (Katee Sackhoff) major storyline halfway through the season came across has somewhat strange. It's possible that the series will return with her, setting the stage for her to take on a prominent role in the new season before returning to Walt and that fateful shot.
Longmire is still waiting for A&E to decide the show's fate. With the best ratings of any scripted drama on the network, the program has a good shot. News will likely come in sometime this fall.
