Ever since Jessica Chastain (The Debt, Mama) denied that she'd been cast for the second season of HBO's True Detective, rumors have focused primarily on casting for the series' male roles.

All this has changed with recent discussion of Mad Men's Elisabeth Moss, who is now believed to be in talks with the network for the drama.
In an interview on Friday with USA Today to promote her new film The One I Love, Moss proved to be somewhat awkward at the mention of True Detective.
'True Detective' Stars Might Have To To Do Their Homework For Season 2
"I can't even… it's… you know…" claimed Moss, who could not keep from smiling. "I had to ask my own people, 'Have you not told me something?' For me as an actor who's been in this business for over 25 years, it's so flattering to be associated with that show. [And] for anyone to think that I could be a part of that show."
It is still uncertain as to whether Moss' mention of asking her "own people" was in reference to her being up for the role or her actually being offered the role. Nonetheless, Moss was certainly excited at the idea, producing an enthusiastic "Yes!" when asked if she is a fan of the show.
With Mad Men closing out its seventh and final season on AMC in January, it could give Moss the momentum and the opportunity to transition into the HBO series.
True Detective returns to HBO for a second season in 2015.
