Penny Dreadful began filming its second season this month, but it looks like a veteran director from the Showtime drama will be taking on another Frankenstein themed project this year.
'Penny Dreadful' Soundtrack Set To Be Released Later This Month
Director Coky Giedroyc has directed two episodes of the Victorian drama, the Vanessa Ives (Evan Green) flashback episode "Closer Than Sisters" (#5) and "What Death Can Join Together" (#6), which centers primarily around the struggles of Dr. Frankenstein (Harry Treadaway) and his Creature (Rory Kinnear).
Now Giedroyc is taking on the upcoming film Mary Shelley's Monster. According to The Mary Sue on Tuesday evening, the project will star Sophie Turner, known to many as Sansa Stark from HBO's Game of Thrones, as the famed Frankenstein author Mary Shelley.
Creator John Logan Could Bring H.G. Wells Characters To 'Penny Dreadful'
Having already worked with Dr. Frankenstein, Van Helsing and Frankenstein's infamous creature during her time with Penny Dreadful, Giedroyc has proven herself to have the dark artistry to pull off the Victorian genre in a vivid and unflinching way.
This gives high hopes for those anticipating the new Shelley bio-pic, which will center around Shelley during the year in which she wrote the novel 1818 Frankenstein. It will focus on Shelley's own demons and how they are reflected in her masterful work of fiction, which she wrote at the tender age of 19.
For fans still craving more, they'll just have to wait for more of John Logan's critically acclaimed series.
Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second season in 2015.
