'True Detective' Season 2 Cast: Fans Fear Expectations For HBO Series May Be Too High, Could Spell Disappointment Come 2015 [VIDEO]
There has been a lot of hype surrounding True Detective's second season on HBO, so much in fact that some fans are beginning to wonder whether or not the show will possibly be able to meet expectations.
Season 2 Of 'True Detective' To Be Modeled After The Classic Film 'Chinatown'
According to True Detective Rumors on Tuesday, it's looking more and more like Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks), Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, Into the Wild), Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men), and Taylor Kitsch (Lone Survivor) will be playing the four official leads when the series returns next year.
It is an unlikely combination, one that might soar to exceed expectations as Matthew McConaughey had as Rust Cohle during the drama's first season or fall dramatically short of what fans will be looking for. With all the hype surrounding the drama's upcoming episodes, it's possible no casting no matter how good and no writing no matter how flawless will be able to match the idealization created by the show's followers.
'True Detective' Stars Have To Do Their 'Homework'
Josh Hill from True Detective Rumors believes Farrell, Vaughn, Moss, and Kitsch might just be "eclectic" enough to keep things interesting and exciting. "It might not work, but it has the feeling just like the first season did where it seems like it might not… and that's why it ultimately ends up working," explained Hill.
Regardless, fans will certainly continue to follow casting rumors until creator Nic Pizzolatto releases the official list of players. The writer is known for shooting down untrue talk regarding the series rather quickly, and so his silence on these four actors could suggest that the rumors might actually turn into fact.
True Detective returns to HBO for a second season in 2015.
