‘Devious Maids’ Season 3: Actor Moves On And Joins CW’s ‘The Originals’, Bad Sign For Lifetime Show’s Renewal Chances? [VIDEO]
Fans are still waiting for a decision on the fate of Lifetime's Devious Maids for a third season, and while most of the cast has remained positive about the show's potential return, one member has reportedly jumped ship to a new show on a new network.
Roselyn Sanchez Says Lifetime 'Needs' Show?
Colin Woodell, who portrayed Ethan Sinclair on the show's second season, has officially signed on to a new role on the CW's The Originals-meaning he may not resume his role on Devious Maids if it returns for a new season.
His role on season 2 of the Lifetime series involved his character being the ringleader of a band of thieves who robbed several Beverly Hills mansions-and ended up killing Alejandro (Matt Cedeno). Once his secret was revealed to his girlfriend, Valentina (Edy Ganem), she turned him in to police and he was headed to jail.

As a result of the arc, his character may not have been returning for a new season anyway, though another actor whose character arc appeared to end in season 2 has since spoken out about his chances of returning, saying that there was always a chance he could come back.
Dominic Adams, who portrayed the Powell's bodyguard Tony Bishara, has revealed that there's no reason his character shouldn't return for a new season.
"I'm always hoping to return!" he said at the time. "It's been a great experience. I love being in the show and I love the reaction from fans-it's been wonderful. The cast and crew have been a big family."
The show ended its second season on July 13, but there's been no word yet on the show's possible return-something that could be a concern as viewership numbers weren't at the same level of the high ratings in the show's first season.
The drama did face some stiff competition in its 10 p.m. timeslot on Sundays this season, getting beaten by a wide variety of shows, including HBO's Silicon Valley and The Leftovers, AMC's Mad Men, Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta and Real Housewives of New Jersey, Adult Swim's Bob's Burgers, TLC's Return to Amish, TNT's Falling Skies and Discovery's Naked and Afraid.
Lifetime has yet to announce if the drama will be renewed for a third season.
