Nikko Smith has shared why he kept his marriage a secret from his girlfriend and sex tape partner Love & Hip Hop Atlanta star Mimi Faust.

Mimi Faust Reveals Shocking Truth Behind Sex Tape

After he was outed for being a married man on the popular series, Smith decided to speak out and defend himself about his wife of nearly 10 years. He spoke with Vibe and shared his side of the story Monday.

"We got married in 2007. Our relationship was really strong. We decided to get married. In the process, our relationship fell apart, but it was a bad breakup.

"It was a messy breakup. We remained cool with each other. She was seeing someone else, and I was a free man. But we were separated."

He added his wife, Margo, did know that he was venturing out to reality television, but wasn't very happy about it. He claimed that while she was in a relationship with another man in New York, he didn't want to tell Faust that he was legally married.

"I made a decision not to tell her, because there was so much going on with this Stevie [stuff]. I'm looking at it different from the way someone else may be looking at it. I was taking this to my grave. This was some secretive [stuff] I was doing. I didn't tell Mimi. I didn't feel as that she needed to know."

He went on to shut down the idea that his wife would make an appearance on the show. While it would be a juicy storyline, Smith said the choice isn't up to him.

"It's not her kind of show. And the fact that she's moved on already with her life. It ain't like she's gonna come on to bash me."
