'American Horror Story' Season 4 News: Story Of Edward Mordrake, Man With Two Faces, Covered In 'Freak Show' [VIDEO]
It seems that FX's American Horror Story will be taking from history again in the upcoming fourth season, entitled Freak Show.
Denis O'Hare, who has had supporting roles in the first season of American Horror Story as well as Season 3, Coven, posted a new photo on Twitter on the set of Freak Show on Friday. The photo features a gift basket along with a script for the new season.
"First day of shooting on AHS Freakshow. What a nice way to be welcomed. #HelloNOLA."
The script reveals the episode title, which reads Edward Mordrake, Pt. 1, according to SpoilerTV. Edward Mordrake (or Mordake) is actually a real-life person who lived in the 19th century. He was an English heir to an unspecified peerage who also happened to have two faces.
Diagnosed with Diprosopus, Mordrake had another face on the back of his head that was not able to perform the same functions as his regular face, except it was allegedly able to laugh and cry. However, Mordrake claimed that his second head would whisper to him at night and would often refer to the head as his "evil twin."
Mordrake committed suicide at the age of 23.
In Freak Show, it seems possible that Mordrake will be played by Wes Bentley. It had previously been announced that Bentley would be playing a character named Eddie, who is described as a "tormentor" from Effil Darling's (Kathy Bates) past. Bentley's Eddie will be appearing in the two-part "Halloween episode," which airs on Oct. 21 and Oct. 28.
The fact that the episode title O'Hare revealed is Edward Mordrake: Pt. 1, combined with the info of Bentley being in the two-part Halloween episode seems to suggest that he will probably be playing the real-life character.
American Horror Story previously used real-life characters in Coven, with socialite/murderer Madame Delphine LaLaurie (Bates) and voodoo priestess Marie Laveau (Angela Bassett).
American Horror Story: Freak Show is set to premiere in October on FX, though the network has not yet announced a specific air date.
