While it is now known that Ra's Al Ghul will be the main villain in season 3 of Arrow, auditioning for the character is still going on as a recent casting call sheet featuring the specs revealed.

Malcolm Merlyn To Wreak Havoc As The Dark Archer In Season 3 Of Arrow

Ghul was the primary villain in Batman Begins and will now be bearer of a deathly pallor in the next chapter of Arrow.

Here's the brief for the character in the casting call sheet:

Nightwing To Be Played By Vampire Diaries Star In Season 3 Of Arrow

"RA's Al Ghul: Male 40's-50's. Open ethnicity. Accent preferred. An iconic villain from the pages of DC Comics. Leader of the League of Assassins. Regal, mysterious, of a bygone era. Proud and unforgiving, Ra's is a ruthless strategist, a master of martial arts, and a shaper of history. He carries the wisdom of the ages, and protects some of its greatest secrets. Think the character of Bane from The Dark Knight Rises. Someone just terrifying. Not a lunkhead, but a smart and physically imposing man. Major recurring guest star."

The official press release for season 3 of the show was released last month:

"After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island in the Pacific. He returned home to Starling City, bent on righting the wrongs of his family and fighting injustice.

To do this, he creates the persona of the Arrow and allies himself with former military man John Diggle (David Ramsey), computer-science expert Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards), street brawler Roy Harper (Colton Haynes) and international assassin Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), while keeping his secret from those closest to him including his sister Thea (Willa Holland), who has allied herself with his most deadly enemy. Rivalries and allegiances will shift as Oliver faces his most difficult challenge yet."

The finale of season 2 of Arrow aired on May 14 on the CW. Season 3 premieres on October 8 on The CW.
