Recently, Jon Hamm decided to take a little break between finishing his portrayal of Don Draper on AMC's Mad Men and starting any new projects. The actor has, however, continued to promote his television series, as well as his new film Million Dollar Arm.

At the London premiere for the inspirational baseball flick, Hamm talked to Red Carpet News TV about typecasting and the incredible fame that has come with being a part of the beloved AMC series for seven seasons.

"I've been able to do some fairly varying roles in my film career," claimed the actor in reference to the idea of being typecast, citing both the buddy comedy Bridesmaids and Ben Affleck's crime drama The Town as films in which he played two incredibly different characters.

If there is pressure that comes with being a TV star, Hamm admits that he usually isn't the one to be concerned about it. "I generally just try to keep my head down and do my work…" he insisted, glancing often away from the cameras as he spoke. "I'm almost always happiest when I'm working."

Of course keeping one's head down isn't always easy, especially when you’re the leading man on a series praised for reshaping the mold of cable television. Hamm been nominated half a dozen times for his turn as Don Draper. His name was even floated around as a candidate for the highly anticipated second season of HBO's True Detective.

"Some of it can be off putting at times," Hamm said of his fame, "But mostly when it comes from a good place and people are generally please with what you do and appreciative that feels nice. So there are two sides to it I suppose."

Mad Men returns to AMC to finish its seventh and final season in early 2015.
