MTV VMAs 2014 'Best Female Video' Winner Is Katy Perry For 'Dark Horse'
Katy Perry took home the MTV Video Music Award Best Female Video Moonman for Dark Horse on Sunday.
Pulled from Perry's 2013 album, Prism, Dark Horse managed to snag the honor over four other contestants.
The 2014 Best Female Video category was also home to works by Ariana Grande, Beyonce, Iggy Azalea, and Lorde.
Ariana Grande was nominated for her collaboration with Iggy Azalea on Problem. Culled from Grande's My Everything, Problem was directed by The Young Astronauts and features a cameo from Big Sean.
Iggy Azalea also made the list with a collaboration, this time with Charli XCX. Directed by Director X, the pair's video for Fancy references scenes from the iconic 1995 film Clueless.
Continuing with the collaboration theme, Katy Perry's winning entry featured Juicy J. Pulled from 2013's Prism, the video takes place in ancient Egypt as was directed by Matthew Cullen.
Beyonce also landed a spot with Partition. Directed by Jake Nava, the risque video features an appearance by Beyonce's husband, Jay Z.
Lastly, New Zealand's Lorde snagged a nomination for Royals. The compilation for the hit song was directed by Joel Kefali and released on Feb. 20.
