The cast of A&E's Longmire continues to await news renewal for Season 4, but that doesn't mean they're staying out of the spotlight.

Fans Urge A&E To 'Bring Back' 'Longmire' For A 4th Season

Actress Katie Sackhoff (Victoria), who has been keeping busy with a number of charity events, attended Entertainment Weekly's Pre-Emmy party on Sunday, turning heads in a blue dress and tan open-toed heels. Of course, that's not all the star's been up to.

After reading about a dog abuse case in The Vancouver Sun on Sunday, Sackhoff voiced her disgust towards the incident via social media.

"Absolutely NOT OK!!!" she tweeted Saturday night. "People who abuse animals are despicable! This man should be charged with #animal cruelty."

A dog owner herself, the case obviously had a strong impact on the actress, because after the Emmy party on Monday she returned to Twitter to continue the discussion of animal cruelty. She posted a quote by German philosopher Arthur Schopenhauer printed alongside the image of a newborn puppy lying innocently in the palm of a woman's hand.

"Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character;" read the quote, "And it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals cannot be a good man."

Fans agreed with Sackhoff's claims, noting the respectability and compassion. Behind her philosophy towards animals.

Longmire's fate remains uncertain, but if the series does return to A&E for a fourth season, it will likely do so in June 2015.
