There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the making of Transformers 5 and the fact that director Michael Bay will not be helming the next project.

Transformers 4: Age of Extinction Being Sued For Breaking Contractual Obligations?

Now the spotlight turns to the main cast members who were supposed to the faces of the new chapter of the Transformers franchise, as there seems to be no confirmation about their return either. It is being rumord that Mark Wahlberg, who played Cade Yeager in the fifth instalment will be dropping out. New reports suggest that the actor's involvement in the sequel to Age of Extinction is not certain.

With Bay reportedly dropping out, maybe Wahlberg might also not be too keen on taking the association forward.

In fact in April, Wahlberg spoke to the LA Times about the fact that Transformers 4 was not a sequel and that he has never done a sequel in his career.

"Some people think of this as a sequel," he said. "We thought of it more as a stand-alone thing. I've never done a sequel."

While there are many ways to interpret what the actor meant by that, could it also mean that he is averse to doing sequels? If that is fact would it affect his decision to take on the trilogy that is to begin with Transformers 4.

Speaking to USA Today, Bay revealed that he "believes he will pass the baton for future Transformer movies to a new director while he turns his focus elsewhere."

The revelation was reasserted in an MTV interview, the director did just after wrapping work on Transformers 4. "There's a lot that's unexplored, but that's for the next director to figure out," he said.

Bay also went on to talk about how tough it was working on the series and it took a lot of time and effort.

"They're hard movies to do and it takes every day for two years. They're fun, but they're hard," he said

Transformers: Age of Extinction hit theaters on June 27, 2014.
