The cast of the upcoming season of CBS' Survivor has been released and it seems that there may be more minor celebrities than usual.

No Redemption Island on Survivor 29?

The 18 players set to compete on Survivor: San Juan del Sur this fall were revealed Wednesday by Entertainment Weekly. Among them are a controversial former baseball player, Broadway actors and some veterans from The Amazing Race.

The season will feature nine pairs of loved ones, bringing back the "Blood vs. Water" twist featured in the Survivor season of the same name. However, this time it is all new players.

Perhaps the most controversial new player is John Rocker, a former baseball player who made a number of homophobic and xenophobic statements in a Sports Illustrated article in the '90s. The 39-year-old will be playing with his girlfriend Julie McGee, 34, a model.

There will also be some Broadway boyfriends set to compete this season: Reed Kelly and Josh Canfield. Kelly is noteworthy for his role in the infamous Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark Broadway musical.

Fans of The Amazing Race will be experiencing "The Twinnies" as Nadiya and Natalie Anderson will be competing as well.

Among the other pairs are "college sweethearts" Jacylyn Schultz and Jon Misch, father and daughter Dale and Kelley Wentworth, married couple Val and Jeremy Collins, mother and daughter Missy Payne and Baylor Wilson, father and son Keith and Wes Nale and brothers Alec and Drew Christy.

This season also featured the return of Exile Island, according to the CBS press release, a twist that was discontinued in Season 18 that sends a castaway (or two) to an isolated island. The pairs will battle to see which one gets to go to the island, taking the place of Redemption Island, which was used in the original Blood vs. Water season.

Survivor: San Juan del Sur premieres Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
