The famous cartoon character challenged his next door neighbor Ned Flanders and Donald Trump. He was shirtless as he poured a tiny cup of water over his head.
“That was cold,” he said shivering. “But, it was all worth it to raise awareness for ALS.”

Immediately after, water, penguins, a polar bear, a hockey player and even an ice cream truck fell on Homer. Moments later we find out that his son, Bart, dropped everything on him from a helicopter.
Somehow Homer still managed to say, “Fight ALS.”
Countless celebrities have done the ice bucket challenge, which requires a person to pour a bucket of freezing water and ice over their head or donate $100 to ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) research. They also have to nominate another person to partake in the challenge.
The disease, which affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord, is also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, in reference to the late New York Yankees player who brought international attention to it in 1939 when he was diagnosed.
The ALS Association received $4 million between July 29 and Aug. 12 in comparison to $1.12 million last year during the same time. The number is steadily growing.
"We have never seen anything like this in the history of the disease,” said Barbara Newhouse, President and CEO of The ALS Association. “We couldn’t be more thrilled with the level of compassion, generosity and sense of humor that people are exhibiting as they take part in this impactful viral initiative."
