Jodie Foster may jump into the director's seat during season 3 of the NBC drama, according to E! Online.

Although neither Foster nor Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller have confirmed the possibility of Foster's involvement, Fuller posted a photo with the actress at the 2014 Primetime Emmys.

As for the fate of Clarice Starling, fans shouldn't expect to see the Silence of the Lambs character anytime soon.

"Clarice is such a special character and a very iconic one, both from the literature and especially, in terms of pop culture, from Jodie Foster's fantastic performance," Fuller told Digital Spy. "So it would be great to fold her into the Hannibal omelet, but time will tell."

So far, Fuller's negotiations with MGM have yet to yield any positive results. That won't stop Fuller from pursuing the matter further, however.

"We're going to do a full-court press to get those rights," Fuller told Entertainment Weekly. "I want to complete the story."
