Yahoo! has reported the rapper's impressive leap in the chart, all the way from no. 39 to no. 2 of the Hot 100. Minaj can probably thank her performance of the single at the MTV Video Music Awards. For those that missed the live performance, she showcased her butt, twerking and dancing seductively on a tree stump in a skimpy green outfit this past Sunday.
The official video for the song has the singer flaunting her rear for a majority of the song, which cannot be confirmed to have helped the song reach the no. 2 spot, but it can be assumed. Minaj spoke about the video in an interview with ABC News, stating "I wanted to reinstate something, because of the shift in pop culture, even hip-hop men are really glorifying the less curvy body."

With Anaconda now in the top 10, this marks the 11th time for Minaj to have reached the Top 10. As a female rapper, she now holds the record for hit singles, passing Missy Elliott. The track also dethroned Iggy Azalea's Fancy from the top of the Hip-Hop/Rap charts. The Australian rapper was the queen of the chart for 18 weeks, but now Minaj has moved her booty to the top spot.
Anaconda being at no. 2 is the highest position Minaj has ever found herself at on the Billboard charts.
