Actor Christian Bale who stars as Batman in "The Dark Knight Rises," paid a visit to the victims of the shootings in Aurora, Colorado today.

Bale and his wife Sibi Blazic were at Medical Center of Aurora, one of the hospitals where some victims are recovering from injuries suffered in the horrific attack, according to the Denver Post.

Among them he visited Carey Rottman who was shot in the leg and Rottman posted a photo with Bale on his Facebook account.

"The patients were really happy to meet Bale," Bill Voloch, the interim president of Medical Center of Aurora, told the DEnver Post. "They are obviously big fans of his movies. They wanted to see Batman and were really pleased to see Bale."

Bale also visited Denver's Swedish Medical Center where he posed with pictures with the hospital's staff.

Suspect James Holmes, 24 opened fire at a midnight screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" killing 12 people and injuring 58 on July 20. He is currently arrested and made his first court appearance on Monday.

Warner Bros. said Bale made the visits on his own.

"Mr. Bale is there as himself, not representing Warner Brothers," said an assistant for Susan Fleishman, executive vice president for Warner Brothers corporate communications.
