'True Detective' Season 2 Release Date: HBO Crime Drama Returns Summer 2015, Fills The Hole 'True Blood' Left Behind [VIDEO]
Casting for True Detective remains a carefully guarded secret, but there is at last a release date for the HBO drama's big second season.
'True Detective' Getting 'Chinatown' Spin For Highly Anticipated 2nd Season
It seems that the show is looking for a late June premiere in 2015, according to HBO Watch. This means the show will be filling the empty summer hole left on the network by this year's True Blood series finale.
Last season the show debuted in January 2014, positioning the series in the inconsistent late winter slow that precedes the incredibly popular Game of Thrones. The bump looks like an act of faith on the part of the network. With a number of Emmy nominations and a win for directing for the show's first season, True Detective certainly has the buzz to fill True Blood's shoes.

HBO Watch also claims that production for Nic Pizzolatto's crime drama is set to begin this month, which means casting for the new season might not remain so secret for very long.
Rumors about the cast have spread far and wide. The closer the program gets to production, the more it seems the most recent names added to the list will be the ones that stick. This includes Colin Farrell (Minority Report, Saving Mr. Banks), Vince Vaughn (Wedding Crashers, Into the Wild), Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights), and Elisabeth Moss (Mad Men).
True Detective will return to HBO for a second season in June 2015.
