It is now nearly impossible to tell who is under the control of HYDRA's poisonous influence, and the new director of SHIELD will be forced to place his trust in some interesting characters during season 2. This includes a mercenary by the name of Lance Hunter (Nick Blood).

"Now that S.H.I.E.L.D. has fallen, Coulson has to look outside of the organization for help, and make uneasy alliances with people like Lance Hunter," said executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen, according to ET. "Hunter is a mercenary, in it for the money, not the cause. Whether his allegiance is to anyone but himself is still in question."
