Roberts spoke with E! News recently about the highly anticipated fourth season of the show, which centers on a freak show living in Jupiter, Fla. in 1952. It seems that viewers will have to brace themselves for what's to come.
"I have to say, Freak Show is really scarier," Roberts said, in comparison to Coven. "I read the script and I was having nightmares."
She also said that American Horror Story "in general, scares me to death . . . I was a fan the first two seasons before I came on."
As for who Roberts will be playing, her character name is Maggie but very few other details are known about her. She said that while it is not readily apparent what kind of "freak" she is, "that might not be true."
Therefore, it seems that Roberts' Maggie will be one of the performers in the freak show, alongside Sarah Paulson's conjoined twins, Kathy Bates' bearded lady and Angela Bassett's three-breasted woman.
Of course, the freak show is owned by Jessica Lange's new character, Elsa Mars. Roberts said that she is hoping Lange stays on past Freak Show, despite the legendary actress saying this would be her last year.
"I think all of us have our fingers crossed that Jessica will come back next season. At least I do because I love working with her. I hope it's not her last season," Roberts said.
American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
