According to GQ Magazine (via Yahoo Movies) Dornan said Friday that the film isn't as "hardcore" as fans may expect. "In some ways it'll break a few boundaries. But at the same time, they want to put bums on seats," he said.
"They can't alienate an audience," he continued. "You know it has to be watchable. It can't be hardcore. I wouldn't have signed up to it if it was."

Dornan plays Christian Grey in the film adaptation of the steamy novel, while Dakota Johnson is his love interest Anastasia Steele. Dornan continued to say that the film has to be made for a larger audience. "It's not going to be grotesque."
Dornan was just honored at the 2014 GQ Men of the Year Awards in London. Fifty Shades author EL James actually presented Dornan with his award for the Vertu Breakthrough trophy at the red carpet event.
Dornan also just signed on for another film. The Chicago Tribune reported this month that Dornan signed on for the movie The Ninth Life of Louis Drax. Shooting is set to commence in October in Vancouver. Max Minghella wrote the screenplay, which was adapted from Liz Jensen's novel. Dornan is also attached to star in the other film The Siege of Jadotville.
