According to a September 5 Entertainment Weekly spoiler room article, Jake (Andy Samberg) will be too busy focusing on his work to really focus on his love life, but Santiago (Melissa Fumero) won't let him ignore what happened between them either-leading to a surprising reaction from Jake.

"It won't be long before Jake returns to the 9-9, but he'll be a little busy taking down mobsters to focus on his love life," the article revealed. "Of course, the big elephant in the room is addressed, but you'll be surprised by what route Peralta takes once he's back on the squad."

Meanwhile, the other surprise romance twist that the season one finale laid on fans-with a shocking hook-up between Boyle (Joe Lo Truglio) and Gina (Chelsea Peretti)-will also be addressed in the new season-specifically with how neither one wants to think about what happened again-and they certainly don't want anyone else to know about it.

"The real shocker is how Gina handles what happened with Boyle in the finale," the spoiler article revealed.

In a preview for the new season, which FOX released in August, a discussion between Boyle and Gina about their hook-up is seen-but things don't appear to go very well when Boyle realizes he won't be able to keep it a secret after all-especially after Jake's return to the precinct.

"Jake's back now and you tell him everything," Gina says in the clip.

"Oh, you're right. I'm gonna tell him," Boyle replies.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine season 2 premieres Sunday, September 28 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
