"Everybody should tweet Denzel is James Bond!" he continued. "Send it to the studio! We start the Denzel is Bond campaign today! James Washington. Denzel Bond!"
The Oscar winner has been taking to action movies of late, with his latest putting him in an almost Bond-like role where he takes down a criminal organization. Washington is close to being 60 years old with the next Bond coming out next year and the one after undecided.
He may go on to be too old for the role by the time Craig hangs up the gun and martini, but Washington is also a star who would have fit into the role and would have been a spirited selection to be the first black James Bond.
Washington's next movie, The Equalizer, comes out on September 26 with Bond 24 coming out November 6, 2015.
