'Insurgent' Stars Dish On 'Emotional' Movie & Higher Stakes In Sequel
Watts will portray Evelyn, Four's (James) mother and the leader of the Factionless. She was responsible for the idea of destroying the Erudite so that Jeanine (Winslet) would lose control of the government, but deceived the Dauntless into believing that their goal was to restore the peace of the old faction system, when her true goal was to abolish factions.
In the Insurgent book, Evelyn convinces Tobias to become a Dauntless leader in order to ally with the Factionless. After the alliance defeats the Erudite and the traitor Dauntless, the Factionless take control of all the weapons before Tobias plays the video. Tobias believes his mother while Tris (Woodley) does not.
Having an big name like Watts attached only adds more pedigree to the series and should allow for this role to be not only important to the story, but also have a great actress behind it.
Insurgent is directed by Robert Schwentke and is opening in theaters on March 20, 2015.
