The Agents of SHIELD cast is getting bigger, but that is only because the organization is getting smaller.

'Agents Of SHIELD' Season 2 Premiere Title Announced, What To Expect

The ABC series will introduce a host of new characters during season 2, but these new faces will come at the cost of SHIELD's massive infrastructure.

"I think with the handful of characters that we have added to the show, it's just to illustrate what the new S.H.I.E.L.D. may look like," said executive producer Maurissa Tancharoen, according to Comic Book Resources. "Coulson is operating with limited resources, so he has to bring people into the fold. So it may feel like we're expanding a lot, but really, the people that you will see are basically the people we have at our disposal."

As Coulson works to rebuild the shattered agency, viewers will meet mechanic Alphonso "Mack" Mackenzie (Henry Simmons), mercenary Lance Hunter (nick Blood), Isabelle "Izzy" Hartley (Lucy Lawless), and Bobbi Morse/Mockingbird (Adrianne Palicki). These newbies will have to help take on HYDRA's Daniel Whitehall (Reed Diamond), Carl Creel (Brian Patrick Wade), and whatever villain pops out of the MCU woodwork.
