Phillip Phillips Achieves First Gold Plaque For 'Home'
American Idol season eleven winner Phillip Phillips received his first Gold Record for his single "Home" by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The single sold at least 500,000 copies and is certified gold.
"Thank you everyone for supporting me and buying "home". Thanks to Greg Holden as well!" the singer tweeted early this week.
Colton Dixon presented the plaque at the Nokia Theater and said, "before we start I have a surprise for you.""Wow," Phillips responded after he received it. "I feel so blessed to have it happen and just want to thank Greg Holden and Drew Pearson 'Home' songwriters and the fans who bought it. Can't thank you enough."
Phillips achieved this record only a few weeks after the track debuted selling more than 278,000 copies in the first week. He is known to have had some kidney health problems but is now on the Amerian Idol national tour with fellow top ten contestants including brand new couple DeAndre Brackensick and Jessica Sanchez.
