The announcement comes in the wake of The Mentalist's eleventh hour renewal for season 7. Actors and viewers alike kept their fingers crossed as the CBS upfronts approached last May, and the long running series was eventually granted 13 episodes to wrap up the storyline.
As the drama winds down, the CBS drama will try to end on a fan-friendly note. Described by series creator Bruno Heller as an "encore," The Mentalist will continue to tie up loose ends in order to keep long-time viewers satisfied.
"All y'all are the best fans and friends we could have!!" Kang tweeted. "I gotta say it makes doing what we do, that much more satisfying."
