Summer is hardly over, but the BBC series is already hard at work on the 2014 Christmas Special. As they do so, a flurry of rumors have spread regarding Frost's possible involvement.

The Shaun of the Dead star was spotted in Cardiff with Doctor Who's Dan Starkey (Strax), according to Doctor Who TV, and the two may have been in Wales for filming.

If Frost is in the upcoming special, Doctor Who TV believes that he may have a Santa Clause-esque role. Considering the Twelfth Doctor had trouble believing Robin Hood was real, one can only imagine his options regarding the jolly gift-giver.

Since the series returned in 2005, the Doctor has used the Christmas Special to battle the Sycorax, save Donna from Empress of Racnoss, reunite a lost pilot with his family, change a scrooge's past, stop an intergalactic cruise from crashing into London, stop the Master, and defend Trenzalore.

What will the Doctor get up to this year? Find out this December.

In the meantime, catch the Twelfth Doctor and Clara on Saturday on the BBC and BBC America. Click the video below to see a preview for the series' next episode, "Time Heist."
