Ne-Yo has been under fire after his former fiancée, Atlanta Exes star Monyetta Shaw revealed that he convinced her to have a procedure that will prevent her from having more children; now he has spoken out and said they both made the permanent decision.

He spoke with Hello Beautiful Friday and said they made the decision "as a family."

"Anyone who knows me knows I don't force my way on anybody."

He went on to say that when they were told their second child was a boy, they were both happy and decided to be done having children.

"The doctor hit us with the option" of getting her tubes tied.

He also said that Shaw checked with him before she signed on to become a reality star. He said he was okay with it because "one thing I know about Mo is that she not gon' tell no lie. She not gon' get on there and bash me. She's not that type of person."

He added that he knows Shaw will use the opportunity to star in a reality show as an "hour long infomercial" to promote what she is working on.

While they might have agreed on not having anymore children at the time, the two have split since then and Shaw revealed on Atlanta Exes she is devastated she will not be able to get pregnant again.

Ne-Yo also defended himself against critics who slammed him for breaking up with Shaw over the phone. He took to his Instagram to make it clear that he understands the mistakes he has made.
