Producer Christopher King continued to tease out Penny Dreadful's second season on Showtime, sharing a tantalizing photo from the set.

Things Get 'More Outrageous' For Season 2 Of 'Penny Dreadful'

The producer snapped the pic on Friday before posting it on Twitter, daring fans to guess as to what the picture might mean.

New Characters To Make Debut In 'Penny Dreadful' Premiere

With "The British Museum" printed across the side of the crate, it appears that the crate itself is a prop and the "item" which King referred to could be tied to the Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle (Simon Russell Beale).

During season one Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) enlisted Lyle to help him translate an ancient text found on the skeleton of an vampyric creature.

While the Egyptologist was only featured in a few episodes during the first half of the show's premiere season, Beale has officially been bumped up to a series regular for season two. Also bumped up as a series regular is Helen McCrory, who played Lyle's associate Madame Kali.

With the varied and "exotic" items in his office, the crate would most easily be tied to Lyle's studies, though it could be something Sir Malcolm discovers at the library itself. The creature seeking Vanessa Ives (Eva Green) for the destruction of the world is something very old and this new artifact might just be key to a new discovery for Sir Malcolm and his band of misfits.

Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second, longer season in 2015.
