The preview for the season 2 finale of Ray Donovan was revealed on September 22, and it ramps up the tension with a quick succession of violent and shocking moments, set against the soundtrack of a brief interaction between Ezra (Elliot Gould) and Ray (Liev Schreiber).

The clip begins with Ray walking into Ezra's office, where he sits composed and sedate but informs Ray that he had lost everything and that he was not he was anymore. Ezra's dry voice rolls over a sequence of vignettes of snipettes showing most of the characters in dismal dispose. But the conclusion hints at a shocking twist which could be interpreted in many ways. As Ezra finishes his bit, a gun is seen and a shot rings loud and clear as Ray's voice is heard in the background saying, "It's over, Ezra."

In a recent interview, Vinessa Shaw, who plays Boston Globe reporter Kate on the Showtime series, revealed that the season 2 finale was going to be "huge."

Speaking to The Wrap, the actress stated that the "unexpected" would happen in the concluding episode of the Showtime series.

"As per last season, Ray Donovan is really good at making something huge happen by the end of the season, and this is exactly what is going to happen," she said. "The unexpected is going to happen, and people are going to have...something happen to them."

The season 2 finale of Ray Donovan will air on Sunday, September 27 at 8 pm ET/PT on Showtime.
