Doctor Who's Clara Oswald may be preparing for a departure, but Twelve's companion will make it to the 2014 Christmas Special.

Twelve To Make A Shocking Decision On 'Doctor Who', Clara's Safety At Risk In 'Kill The Moon'?

Although Clara was recently confirmed for the Christmas Special, it could be her last hoorah; particularly considering how fond the BBC series is of offing characters during the holidays.

Clara (Jenna Louise Coleman) has only enjoyed a season and a half in the TARDIS, but rumors are already circulating regarding her departure from Doctor Who. When questioned on the subject, both Peter Capaldi (The Doctor) and Coleman have delivered rather enigmatic answers.

"The truth is ... I don't want to tell you the truth because I quite like these rumours," Coleman confessed to This Morning. "I think it's really interesting because, suddenly, people don't know what's going to happen in the series, people don't have any idea, so this speculation is quite good. People can now watch the show not knowing if I am or not, and that is quite exciting."

After Doctor Who's early season 8 script and video leaks, a bit more mystery surrounding the series may not be a bad thing. Just as an iteration of Clara shocked viewers in the season 7 premiere, perhaps her departure will also come a surprise.
