‘Blue Mountain State’ Movie News: Production On Film Version Of Spike TV Show Underway? Cast Shares Hilarious PHOTOS From The Set?
Fans of the upcoming Blue Mountain State movie have been waiting patiently for news of the film's release, and it looks like they can be assured it will arrive in theaters in 2015 as scheduled, because filming may just be underway.
Does 'Blue Mountain State: The Movie' Need More Money?
Alan Ritchson, who played football stud Thad on the short-lived TV series, shared a series of snaps with co-star Chris Romano (also known as Romanski) as the two appeared to hang out on a beach together on Sept. 22, joking like they were about to become a married couple.
"Me and @Iamromanski getting married on the beach!" Ritchson captioned a shot of the two as they stood fully-clothed together by the water.
Other shots of the two on the beach include Romanski as he walked around shirtless and in his swimsuit, Ritchson doing a faceplant into the sand, and the two standing across from one another in a black-and-white shot as waves crashed on the sand behind them.
The fun continued with the two as Ritchson also shared a photo of Romanski jumping excitedly in the air, which he captioned, "All in all it was a great day! And I'm finally married to @iamromanski like I always hoped! Look how happy he is!!! Let's hope he stays that happy when the honeymoon's over and he has to eat my crappy cooking! Hahahahaha."
The two friends have been hanging out together as they busily try to scout locations for the film, recently heading to Spokane, Wash. in an effort to help get the production underway, following a slight stall due to funding.
Series creator Eric Falconer gave a backer update to fans who raised money in a Kickstarter campaign to create the movie back in August, telling fans that the movie would still be released in spring 2015, but production had been delayed because of the costs.
"Our biggest obstacle right now, and forever, is money. We've written an epic script and epic scripts cost money to shoot," he said. "When the dust settled after this Kickstarter ended, the amount we were left with was around $1.4 million. (The other $500K went to Kickstarter, Amazon, dropped donations, and fulfillment of the Kickstarter rewards-which are coming soon. Hang tight.) $1.4 million is a lot of money, but for a movie production, this barely covers union labor costs for the crew."
"In order to ensure you, our BMS backers and fans, get the movie you want and deserve, we've decided to reach out to investors for some additional gap financing," he continues. "We're currently in the process of securing these additional funds and locking our budget. Once this falls into place, we'll be off to the races."
The original show, which ran for three seasons on Spike TV, followed a group of college football players as they tried defending their state title-focusing mostly on incoming freshmen Alex Moran (Darin Brooks) and Sammy (Romanski), as well as team captain Thad (Ritchson). All three are scheduled to return for the film, alongside Denise Richards, Ed Marinaro and Sam Jones III.
