It was a long, uninformative hiatus for fans of Agents of SHIELD's Fitz, but Iain De Caestecker dropped a few hints about the injured engineer ahead of the premiere.

After a near death experience and love confession at the bottom of the ocean, Fitz will have a bit of recuperating to do throughout season 2.

"I don't know how much I can say, really," De Caestecker told Marvel.com of the upcoming season. "All I can say is that at the end of the first season we don't fully get told what exactly is wrong with Fitz, but we know something has happened to him and we know the last time we saw him he was in the water in an almost comatose state. There's definitely something that is going to change the balance of how he fits in amongst the team."

Despite a shakeup in his personal relations, Fitz will continue to provide Coulson's (Clark Gregg) team with his usual ingenious creations.

"Things have changed so much that nothing can ever go back to the [way things were], but I still like the fact that he'll be dealing a lot with the gadgets and preparing everyone for that side of it," De Casestecker explained.
