Olympic Medal Count 2012: US In 2nd Place After Day 3 In London, Day 4 NBC Live Stream
Day 3 of the 2012 London Olympic Games made quite the splash, but is officially over (although it is currently being showed pre-recorded here in the U.S.). The United States has quickly made a comeback as they are now in a tied for 1st place in the overall medal count through today, July 30, 2012. Although they are still trailing China in the gold medal count by four.
In men's gymnastics, China pulled out on top by racking up another gold, while the United States took a fifth place finish. In the 200 meter freestyle, Yannick Agnel and the French were victorious as swimming sensation Ryan Lochte did not even finish within the top three spots. However, the U.S. faired greatly in the 100 meter backstroke as Matt Grevers and Missy Franklin took home the gold for both the men and women respectively.
Day 4 will feature Michael Phelps looking to regain gold, as he competes in the 200 meter butterfly. Also, Team USA will take on Tunisia in the qualifying round of men's basketball amongst other important matchups.
