'Penny Dreadful' Season 2 Premiere: A Shadowy Figure Is 'Lurking' Underground In New Scenes, Could Mean Trouble For Sir Malcom & Co. [PHOTO, VIDEO]
James Hawes announced that production for Penny Dreadful's second season would be heading underground this week and on Friday the director dropped some hints as to what the Showtime series is doing down there.
'Penny Dreadful' Begins Filming In New Scenes
On Friday Hawes posted a shadowy photo on Twitter, challenging fans to uncover who it was exactly that was featured in the image.
'Penny Dreadful' Could Lose A Lead Character In Season 2
In the picture a silhouette with a strong jawline stands in an underground chamber. While the director could be teasing followers with a picture of one of the crew, the image does share certain characteristics with actor Simon Russell Beale, who played Egyptologist Ferdinand Lyle in season one and was bumped up as a series regular for season two.
The shape of the man's head, as well as his facial hair, make a a strong case for Beale. Hawes was busy filming in the streets of Dublin this past week for some "London" scenes, though on Thursday he revealed that they'd be moving on to their next location.
Where are Sir Malcolm (Timothy Dalton) and his band of misfits headed? And why? Fans will just have to wait to find out, though Hawes will likely continue to drop clues here and there.
Penny Dreadful returns to Showtime for a second, longer season in 2015.
