FX has released the opening credits sequence to the highly anticipated American Horror Story: Freak Show, featuring plenty of clowns and creepy music.

The new opening credits feature a listing of the various cast members starring in the new season: Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Michael Chiklis, Frances Conroy, Denis O'Hare, Emma Roberts, Finn Wittrock, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange.

The title sequence is set to the same American Horror Story theme though there is a melodic xylophone playing along with the theme, giving it that creepy circus music sound. The design itself is a departure from the first three seasons' opening sequences, with most of it being filmed in stop motion. There is a heavy emphasis on clowns, as is to be expected.

Meanwhile, American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy revealed a pretty big piece of information to a fan who said they were scared to watch the new season. He said on Twitter Wednesday:

"Tina, don't be afraid! The clown is scary, true. But don't you wanna see Jessica Lange sing a Lana Del Rey song?"

Lange is playing a former German cabaret singer named Elsa Mars in the season, and she will be given the opportunity to perform. While it obviously strains credulity that a character in 1952 would be singing a cover of a Lana Del Rey song, it certainly wouldn't be the most unbelievable thing featured on the show.

American Horror Story: Freak Show is set to debut Wednesday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on FX.
