'Mission: Impossible 5' Movie News: Simon McBurney Joins Film As Boss Of Rebecca Ferguson's Character, Role Could Be Another Spy Or Rival [VIDEO]
Not much is known about the plot of the next Mission: Impossible movie, but it seems like another accomplished actor will be joining the cast to either help or hinder Tom Cruise in the action picture.
Variety reported on Thursday that Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy actor Simon McBurney is in negotiations to join Mission: Impossible 5. The site said his role is supposed to be the boss of Rebecca Ferguson's character.
The plot isn't clear, but Ferguson is playing the female lead across from Cruise in the film. McBurney joins a cast that also includes Jeremy Renner, Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Alec Baldwin and Sean Harris.
The film is currently filming in London so McBurney and Ferguson, who was seen on set there earlier this week, are probably based there for whatever organization they are coming from. It could mean that she plays some rival spy as Paula Patton is not coming back and leaves the female spy role open for this movie.
As for the other roles, Baldwin is expected to play the head of the CIA, who appears to be an important persona in the new movie and could be a villainous character for Cruise's Ethan Hunt to have to face.
The film just ended production in Vienna, Austrai before moving to London where it may be filming in the English Parliament Building, being the first movie ever to do that.
Mission: Impossible 5 is directed by Christopher McQuarrie from a script by Drew Pearce. It is set to open in theaters on Christmas Day 2015.
