With "Dark Knight Rises" continuing to bring in massive audiences at the box office, the big question still looming on every fans' mind is: what's next?

Director genius Christopher Nolan has publicly stated that he won't be returning to the director's chair for another crack at the "Dark Knight" masterpiece. However, rumors are now surfacing that he may indeed come aboard in a producer capacity for the franchise down the road, according to Geeks Of Doom. Much like Sony has done with "The Amazing Spiderman," Warner Bros. would like to mimic with the Batman; in terms of a fresh and clean reboot.

The final scene of the "Dark Knight Rises" gives Warner Bros. several options; as it shows John Blake entering his newly inherited bat cave and unveiling its secrets via Bruce Wayne's will. But unbeknownst to all, Bruce Wayne is still perfectly alive and well, enjoying life with Selina Kyle.

Although the Batman persona has been taken up by other characters in its DC comic books who are not Wayne, killing him off and giving the audience a successor could be a fatal risk to the franchise, if it's not executed the right way by the right director.

Surprisingly, many would rather not see the franchise continue putting out movies and compromise its reputation for future monetary gain. However, there are several other Batman loyalists that would still opt to see rising actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his John Blake character as the very next caped crusader; as there is no real basis for Bruce Wayne to be the Dark Knight in any future continuations of the trilogy.
