Vicki Gunvalson is finally opening up about her boyfriend Brooks Ayers' shocking cancer news. The Real Housewives of Orange County star says that while she is helping him cope with the illness, she's also optimistic that he will be able to beat it as well."

According to Radar Online on Thursday, Ayers made the revelation, adding that he has stage 3 cancer and that he is "determined to fight this horrible disease" while he is being surrounded by love and support from his friends and family.
Gunvalson told People Magazine in a statement, "I am very sad about the recent diagnosis of Brooks's cancer reoccurrence. It really puts life in perspective and makes you realize how important health, family and friends are during this time. Thank you for respecting his privacy and for all your thoughts and prayers for Brooks during this time."

Meanwhile, Ayers has admitted that his cancer is "aggressive and fast-moving" by explaining, "Life is funny sometimes. Sometimes it is not. My reality is that I have, once again, been diagnosed with a form of Non-Hodgkin lymphoma specifically diffuse large B cell lymphoma."
He added, "Non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) is the most common type of lymphoma. Although there are more than 50 types of NHL, diffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common type, making up about 30 percent of all lymphomas. In the United States, DLBCL affects about 7 out of 100,000 people each year. DLBCL is a fast-growing, aggressive form of NHL. DLBCL is fatal if left untreated, but with timely and appropriate treatment, approximately 60 percent of all patients can be cured."
Back in July, Gunvalson said she was done feeling "ashamed" for dating Ayers while defending him to her fans at the same time.
"Don't we all want to feel loved and reaffirmed that we are attractive?" Gunvalson wrote on her Bravo blog. "He's very complimentary to me and he always makes me know I'm important to him. This is one of the many things I enjoy about him."
