Fans of the cult classic TV series Twin Peaks received a tease from the show's creators that it might be coming back after 25 years.

Creators David Lynch and Mark Frost simultaneously tweeted the same message on Friday, hinting at a possible return:

"Dear Twitter Friends," they both tweeted, "That gum you like is going to come back in style! #damngoodcoffee".

This message refers to two of the more famous catchphrases from the show, though the "coming back in style" part of the message has some fans believing that the show might actually come back for new episodes.

Twin Peaks may have only aired for two seasons from 1990-1991 on ABC but its legacy has lasted into this century. After the release of The Complete Mystery Blu-ray set, in addition to fans who watched it on Netflix, Twin Peaks is still in the public consciousness and gains new fans every day.

As popular fan-site WelcomeToTwinPeaks.com points out, Lynch has been coy about the possible return of Twin Peaks. In 2007 he said, "You will have to imagine the rest on your own, which will be beautiful," when asked if the series would ever return.

However, earlier this week at the Lucca Film Festival, Lynch was asked the same question and gave the following response: "I've always said: I love a continuing story, to love a world and be able to go deeper and deeper into that world. So there's always a possibility... and you just have to wait and see!"

Lynch and Frost might be pulling a prank or they could be referring to something else entirely, but the devoted fanbase of Twin Peaks is excited about the possibility of new episodes nonetheless.
