In a recent interview, Criminal Minds executive producer Erica Messer spoke about Kate Callahan (Jennifer Love Hewitt) being a very valuable addition to the team in season 10 of the CBS procedural.

Messer spoke to Mashable about how Kate's character also draws from Hewitt's personality and that enhances the performance.

"She's got a lot of Jennifer to her, and she's a great asset to the team," Messer said. "And she has undercover experience that our team hasn't had; it's a skill set that's specific and different."

Derek Morgan and Savannah Are "Still Going Strong"

Meanwhile, the preview for the upcoming episode of season 10 was revealed earlier this week.

In the brief clip, Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness) is seen talking to a criminal on death row, who was nabbed by the BAU. He requests she grant him his last wish, is to have someone there with him, as he has noone else he seeks Garcia to be there for his death sentence, on his side. To make matters worse the perpetrator had tried to kill to agents from the team. Cut to Morgan, who is dismayed at Garcia wanting him to watch her back as she goes to meet the criminal and curtly tells her that he won't be there for her. "Let me know when you're done washing his feet," he adds.

In other related spoilers for the rest of the season, TVGuide reported that Morgan and Savannah (Rochelle Aytes) will be "still going strong" in season 10 and that Savannah will return in episode 7 of this chapter of Criminal Minds.

Season 10 premiered on CBS on October 1.

Episode 2, entitled Burn, will air on October 8.
